Barrnon’s engineering success story started in the unlikely business of scallop fishing. It’s a hazardous and challenging game. It’s also particularly demanding on the equipment used for sea-bed trawling in exceedingly awkward environments.

Barrnon’s scallop gear is arguably the hardest wearing available – fabricated using super-tough, durable Hardox steel.

As well as manufacturing trawling gear, we are also design and build trawler doors and other catch gear and carry out bespoke boat refits.

Our work in the marine and agricultural sectors has given us extensive experience of designing and fabricating durable systems that add long-lasting value for our clients. It has also sharpened our ability for rapid development and deployment – time is money in the fishing industry and trawler owners can’t afford to be in dock too long.

The skills and ideas we’ve developed in the fishing industry have given us a major advantage in tackling the problems faced by the nuclear decommissioning industry and that’s led to the ability to deploy innovative solutions that we know from experience will work.
